Sunday, Monday, Drama, and Fixation

Sunday passed so slowly I was afraid that some time stopping ability had kicked in without notice. Discovering new powers is what I’m all about. Yeah!

But the hours dragged by in a flurry of naps and cupcakes and deviled eggs and pork chops. The minutes slowed even further the closer we got to the Season 3 premier of Game of Thrones.

Yes. Now I’m transfixed by two programs, Downton Abbey being the first.

I wonder if this obsession is a further excuse to procrastinate. Ah well, it’s a lovely way to do so. Passing the random hour or two being thoroughly entertained, whisked away to a fantasy place where life’s problems are invented, perhaps so imaginary as to be absurd and always controlled by someone other than myself is a respite from the ebb and flow of my own reality. Resolutions require no decision making on my part.

You would think the drama in everyday life would put one off the concocted drama of television and movies and the theatre. It doesn’t.  It’s the beauty of escaping our own world to live in another that seems to change our thinking, relax our most heinous tendencies.  The masks of tragedy and comedy allow us to see the best and the worst of ourselves as humans. It is expected that each of us will take the intended lesson from this exposure.

Let’s just hope that ‘reality’ tv runs its course. I can find little to redeem this genre. No offense intended. Perhaps the varied responses to manufactured situations are of some value to the viewer. I don’t know. Frankly, it just doesn’t appeal.

Perhaps I need to get out more.

  1. I don’t have satellite anymore, so I miss The Walking Dead! My mother is also hooked on Downton Abbey. I have considered picking it up on the Netflix, but it would just give me another excuse not to take care of my chores! lol

    1. I don’t need another excuse either, but oh, well! Sometimes the chores just have to wait. They certainly won’t go away…

Oh please, oh please, oh please share your thoughts!
