Interrogation, Old White Men, and Young Blood

I watched a few clips of the senate committee interrogation of Senator Hagel. Although the talk included discussion of Hagel’s missteps, the clip of John McCain questioning caught my attention. It was astonishing. McCain appeared to be a bitter, old, badger. I think it is well past time for him to step down. His anger was palpable. His ideology is past its prime.

I think Lindsey Graham could join him as well as the new Senator from Texas. Although younger, he has old ideas.

Now we have to convince the voters who continue to elect these stupid, old, white guys to find younger, more progressive representatives. We need reps who are embracing the new millennium.

Personally I’m thinking of an ad campaign emphasizing some way cool six-pack abs and copy that goes something like this:

Women have long tolerated the interference and idiocy of men.  We trample your rights.  We presume to know best about your health and well-being. We leave you to raise our children on your own. We rape and commit incest and then demand you carry the fetus to term and raise it.  We steadfastly refuse to acknowledge your superior intellect and capability in the work place. It’s time to elect someone on your side, time for understanding, time to set a better example for the young men in America. It’s time to elect a grown-up.

Hehehehe…sexist? Nay, it’s just me fantasizing. I’m not too old yet.

Thank goodness the 113th Congress is more diversified, more representative of the people. Just wish those damn Repubs would get a grip and the old guys in the House and Senate would take their angry, bitter, sexist, sorry asses into retirement. We all know they have plenty of money to live on….if not they could ask the Koch brothers for assistance, but then I suppose the Kochs would demand a return favor. They should pay a bit more for services already rendered and call it a deal.

Most of them won’t live that much longer anyway.

I know it’s rather morbid and pretty hateful on my part, but is anyone else out there grateful for that?

Oh please, oh please, oh please share your thoughts!
