Birthdays, Rain, and More Sleep

Last night I went on a fabric cutting spree….I’m making stuff for my Etsy shop and  trying to establish a ‘brand’. The latter requires a bit of photo styling and I’m not a photo stylist.

I suppose I will learn.

This learning thing for a woman my age is rather amusing. It’s like gardening. You plant something, it grows. Great. You plant something. It dies. You try something else.

I guess I’m just gardening life.

I was given an opportunity in September  when I was relieved of my job. I like that choice of word…relieved. It was a relief.

I’ve been writing, designing, creating since that fateful day. It’s been exhilarating. The only drawback is the pain issues I have. Pain slows me down. I want to move with the speed and agility of my youth. Sometimes, I just have to stop, most of the time I try to push through. I hate the slowing part. I hate the stopping part even more.

But each day still brings a bit of progress. Even a dying idea is a lesson learned.

So, right now I have a few items holding my shop open. Just holding. There’s nothing there yet to indicate where I’m going.  Preparation seems to take more time than I imagined.

And I am so not a prepared kinda woman. The fabric cutting was a start. The pattern was drafted ages ago. Last week I sewed the prototype. Getting there!

Today I shopped for fabric interfacing and soda and finished my pagan present-giving shopping for my daughter. Now I have to concentrate on the boys. Oh gee.

I found a book for Zach’s birthday. He gets his birthday presents tonight. The book is all about assholes. Finally someone has put a name to all the different kinds. There are smug assholes, corporate, pompous, royal…well you get the drift. I think I’ll ask him to pass it on to me when he finishes. Like I really need a lesson in assholes. Perhaps the book will shed some light on the subject. Hehehehehehehe…

You know the difference between a proctologist and a bartender?

A proctologist has to look at only one asshole at a time.

I used to be a bartender. I can vouch for that.

As I shopped, it began to pour rain….it was a gulley washer….I’ve had wet feet since. Good thing it’s been so warm! Yuck. Warm and December should not be uttered in the same breath. Dontcha know the gas company is crying!

Tonight Falon and I took Zach out for dinner. And we enjoyed it! Wow. Although Zach did put the window down on Bru-honda and lost one of my antlers. Now Bru has a red nose and one antler. He’s no longer fully dressed for the sleigh ride.

I brought home a couple of slightly toasted boys, uh young men. Go figure. It’s been a long time since I did that! Back then I wasn’t related to any of them. Ah…the joys of a misspent youth. Kidding. Mostly.

Today’s rain has zapped my energy level. Time for a nap. Wonder if we have tsetse flies in Arkansas? Aren’t they the scourge responsible for sleeping sickness?

<yawns hugely, big sigh>

Now where’s Peanut? He’s such a little snuggle bunny!

  1. tell Zach a happy birthday from another old broad!

Love the proctologist joke! could substitute “retail clerk” for bartender and it would especially work in this pagan present swapping season.

    1. retail clerk, oh yeah! I feel so sorry for them I just try to wait patiently and say thank you brightly. I’ve matured! Well, maybe.
